Reading codes and labels

... using the example of an automatic functional test rig for gear pumps.

After the testing and flushing sequence, the robot places the tested pump onto an empty workpiece carrier (WPC), which then moves into the laser marking cell. A Data Matrix code is engraved onto pumps that passed inspection. The WPC then moves into the verification cell, where the Data Matrix code is checked. Pumps that failed inspection are diverted via a switch onto a reject conveyor line and removed manually from there.

Measurement According to Test Standard

  • Flow rate – at variable oil pressure and pump speed
  • Pump shaft torque – during the start-up phase as well as under varying oil pressure and pump speed
  • Pressure pulsation measurement – for detecting missing or defective components at variable speeds and pressure
  • Laser marking quality – to ensure traceability

During Testing

  • Oil temperature measurement – continuously throughout the test sequence
  • Actual speed measurement – for process monitoring
  • Actual pressure measurement – for process monitoring
  • Suction pressure monitoring – to ensure testing quality
